Vientiane Railway Station: Location Map and Arrival Planning

Archive photograph of Vientiane Railway Station from the site's existing station guide. Use current signs and your issued-ticket instructions when travelling.
This is the Laos–China Railway station for journeys towards Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang and northern Laos. It is separate from Khamsavath, the station used by Thailand-facing conventional trains.
Open the station location
Open Vientiane Railway Station in Google Maps. This is the map link retained from the original station article. Confirm the displayed station name before requesting directions or booking a vehicle. Check the destination against your issued ticket and share the full station name with your driver.
Plan transport and station checks
Confirm the pickup point, the number of travellers and bags, and the current transfer quote with your hotel or driver. Shared vehicles may collect other passengers. Allow for road traffic, ticket collection if required, security screening and document checks.
Follow the railway's current boarding deadline and the instructions for your particular ticket. The previous article's generic “30 minutes early” statement should not be treated as a universal safe arrival time, especially for international journeys or separate connections.
Use the current station guide
For routes, ticket preparation and the distinction between stations, read our Vientiane Railway Station guide. The main guide is being maintained across the seven website languages. Search the actual travel date for available trains and fares; the archive photograph and map do not confirm a current timetable or ticket availability.
