Laos eVisa questions, answered
Entry guidance checked against the official FAQ on 2026-10-10 · Official FAQ
Can I use a Laos eVisa when arriving by train?
The official entry list includes Boten Railway Station and Khamsavath Railway Station. Match the actual immigration checkpoint to your itinerary. Vientiane Railway Station for domestic high-speed trains is not Khamsavath.
How long does a Laos eVisa take?
The official estimate is usually 3 working days after a complete application and payment, subject to acceptance by the authorities. Corrections, holidays and additional checks can take longer. Apply 5 to 60 days before entry and allow extra time for review.
How much is a Laos eVisa?
Your visa fee is charged in USD per applicant, based on the nationality in your passport. The full price is shown before payment; there are no additional charges.
Do I need to print the approval letter?
Yes. The official FAQ requires a printed approval letter. Bring the same passport used for the application; a clear black-and-white print is accepted when the QR code is legible.
Are 60-day validity and a 30-day stay the same thing?
No. The approval letter is valid for entry for up to 60 days after issue. The tourist eVisa permits a stay of up to 30 days from entry and is single-entry. Check the dates on your issued documents.
Can I get a refund if a visa is refused?
Once your application is submitted, the eVisa fee paid is non-refundable under any circumstances, whether the application is approved or refused. Train tickets remain separate orders.
What passport and photo do I need?
Use an ordinary passport valid for more than 180 days from arrival. Upload a clear colour copy of the passport biodata page and a separate 4 × 6 cm colour photo taken within the last 6 months, with a white background, no shadows and both eyes open. Additional documents may be requested.
Do children and infants need their own application?
Yes. Each traveller who needs a visa, including children and infants, needs individual application details and documents. Check any nationality-based visa exemption before applying. You can add family members to the same order on our site.
Can my entry date or checkpoint change?
The official FAQ allows entry on any date within the approval letter’s validity and through any designated eVisa checkpoint. Keep using the passport from your application. An undesignated checkpoint cannot be used with this eVisa; check entry arrangements before travelling.
What if I entered incorrect details?
Check all details against your passport before submitting. If you find an error after submission or on the approval letter, contact us with your order number promptly. If corrections are requested, upload the requested documents through your order; do not create a duplicate application.
I was charged but payment is still unconfirmed. What should I do?
Do not pay again while the result is being checked. Keep your payment confirmation and contact us with your order number so we can verify the payment status.
How will I receive my eVisa approval letter?
We send the approval letter as a PDF email attachment after checking it. You can also sign in to your order to download the released file. Save a copy and print one legible copy for entry. If you cannot find the email, check spam or contact us.
